I have a soap and candle company. In my candles, I only use US sourced materials. I use soy and coconut wax. I use all natural cotton wicks. I do use synthetic fragrances because I have not had any success with essential oils in my candles. However, the fragrances I use are vegan and cruelty free. they are phthalate free. they are free of carcinogens, mutagens, reproductive toxins. My fragrance are also Prop 65 safe.

These all seem like great choices, thank you. I’m wondering if you know anything about Fontana Candle Co? I just bought a few of their candles & can’t wait to burn them, they smell so good.

Hello! I’ve always loved the fragrances from candles along with the soft light, but am sad to hear most are toxic. I’ve just seen Carriere Freres advertised in a magazine. How are their candles? In particular-what about the Absinthe?

You cannot use essential oils in candles as it changes their properties and they can become extremely toxic.

I made the mistake of buying a candle from koselig.it was so potent I had to put it in a bag to keep the scent out of the air when not burning it.i could almost swear I can literally taste it .ugh!

This is a great list! Have you tried Element Tree Essentials? From what I can tell they are a great non-toxic candle that you can also use on your body when the oil is melted.

In reply to Brooke John. I love Blue Corn Candles. They are made in Colorado (where I live) from beeswax. The scent is only the smell of beeswax and smells yummy enough to eat. There is a scent, but it's natural and food-like and to me they are the only ones I've found that don't interfere with the smell or taste of the food. Plus nice guy/small business!
